Remembrance and Children in Need

This week Year 1 have been focussing on remembering the soldiers who gave up their lives for our freedom and peace.  We have worn our poppies with pride and painted beautiful poppy fields using peppers for printing.  In our English lessons we have been writing our thanks on medals and thinking about the meaning of peace.

On Friday, the children dressed up in home clothes for Children in Need.  As a 'golden time' treat, we decided to visit the Copthill animals and go for a countryside walk. The goats and donkeys were delighted with all the attention!

We hope you like the children's fabulous Christmas card designs.  Please send in your orders next week Next Friday we shall be celebrating Diwali.

Bonfire Party!

Year 1 have been busy making Catherine Wheel jam sandwiches, glitter sparklers and bubble ‘fireworks’ this week to celebrate bonfire night in our own special way.

Welcome to the Year 1 Blog

Welcome to the Year 1 blog.

Both classes have been settling in well to new routines and getting to know the new adults that are helping them in their learning.

Last week we made a discovery outside....Thomas found an interesting looking tin and upon opening it we realised we had discovered a time capsule!

The capsule had lots of 'old' toys inside and a letter from a young girl who talked about her time at school. We all agreed it didn't sound as fun as school is now.

I wonder if the children can remember the time in History that our time capsule was buried?

The children in 1F have also been doing some colour mixing in art and have created some wonderful paintings inspired by Kandinsky, we will be using these to decorate our year 1 corridor.

Please take a look at the other photos to see the other interesting things we have been getting up to.

Look at our Displays

We are sorry no art work has made it home yet, Year 1 have been busy making the classrooms their own with some fantastic displays!

Hobby Horses

What a fantastic end to our first half term! The children loved making their hobby horses in forest school and then riding them around the school grounds!

Well done to all Year 1 who have worked extremely hard this half term. We hope you all enjoy the break whatever you have planned and look forward to hearing all about it when the children return.
