Welcome to Year One

Welcome to our Year One blog page.

This is where we post snapshots of what your children have been up to during the week as well as messages so please do keep up to date with it. The easiest way is to link it to your phone so you get an automatic email update! Here is the link :

In our topic 'Happy Families' we have begun learning about the stages of life.

1O have been busily preparing their classroom door to welcome us all.

1B Maths work counting with cubes.

and ....... our school council election.

We can't wait to find out who will become our class representatives. Watch this space!

The children have all settled in well and are finding their feet in Year One. The routines will become easier for them each week. Please remember to bring the reading folder with the books in every day and please do make a quick comment to show if a book has been read at home. Thanks.

The Independent Explorer homework activity sheet will be in reading folders this Friday. The intention for this challenge is for you to work on one (or if you wish, more) activity at some time during the half term or in the half term break. We shall send home a sheet of activities linked to our  topic themes each half term.

Mathletics access information cards will be stuck in to reading record books on Friday. We do not set Mathletics homework in Year One but if you would like to use this resource at home then please feel free, although we suggest it works best if you support your child to use it and limit screen time too.

We have had a busy start to term and as a result some rather tired little people so a relaxing weekend and early nights is our advice!

Reminder - there is a Read Write Inc workshop for parents in 1O classroom on Wednesday morning at 8:30am. Please come along if you'd like a refresher.

Have a great weekend!
Mrs Over and Mrs Boughton
